What is covered under domestic insurance in Kenya?
Structure Coverage
Dwelling: Protects the physical structure of your house from insured events like fire, lightning, windstorms, hail, explosions, vandalism, theft (of building materials), riots, and even the weight of ice and snow.
Contents Coverage
Personal Belongings: Covers your furniture, appliances, electronics, clothing, and more if damaged or stolen due to covered perils mentioned above. Be aware of coverage limits for valuables like jewelry or artwork. You might need additional coverage (riders) to insure them fully.
Additional Living Expenses (ALE)
Temporary Housing: If a covered event renders your home uninhabitable, ALE coverage helps with temporary housing costs like hotel bills and restaurant meals. Coverage limits and durations typically apply.
Liability Coverage
Personal Responsibility: Protects you financially if someone gets injured on your property (bodily injury) or their property is damaged by your actions (property damage). This can cover medical expenses, legal fees, and repair.
